2022 Update

Boxing SA is excited to provide an initial update for the 2022 season.

 

The first BSA Tournament for 2022 wil be held on Saturday 26th February (venue TBC). This includes BSA presentations. 

Please note this event will also be the BSA Commonwealth Games Elite Men and Women & Women’s World Selection event.

If athletes would like to compete in the BSA Commonwealth Games Elite Men and Women & Women’s World Selection event. the athlete must:

•          Be registered with Boxing SA for 2022

•          Be registered with Office Rec and Sport and complete the medical and MRI requirements (Elite Males)

•          Have competed in a minimum of 10 bouts (Elite Males) or a minimum of 7 bouts (Elite Females)

•          Be vaccinated

Weight categories for the BSA Commonwealth Games Elite Men and Women & Women’s World Selection event will be sent out soon once they are received from Boxing Australia. 

Attached is the BSA Athlete and Coach selection policy to be selected in the BSA State Team which will attend the Boxing Australia Commonwealth Games and Elite Women’s Worlds. The selection event will be held Wednesday 16th - Saturday 19th March in Adelaide. Click here to view.

          

Please note there are some new competition changes this year. In particular, MA’s have agreed on standardizing the novice, intermediate and open categories across all states.  MA’s have agreed on 0-5 Novice, 6-10 Intermediate and 10 plus Open.

Bout limits for Australian Championships and selection events have also now been changed. Please see New Appendix 5.12 inserted:

All boxers registered by a Member Association who have:

               in the case of male elite and youth boxers, competed in ten (10) bouts or more, and

in the case of female elite and youth boxers, competed in seven (7) bouts or more, and

in the case of male junior boxers, competed in five (5) bouts or more, and

in the case of all other boxers have competed in three (3) bouts or more excluding exhibition bouts and competition sparring.

 

The full BSA calendar will be sent out shortly. This will include state training and sparring days scheduled in February for the lead up to the first Tournament.
