BSA State Championships 2019

The Boxing South Australian State Championships will be held on Friday 20th, Saturday 21st, Sunday 22nd September. View the poster.
 
The 2019 BSA State Championships will be the selection event for the BSA State Teams for the U19 Australian Championships to be held in Brisbane in October and the Elite Men’s and Womens selection event for the Tokyo Olympics to be held in Victoria in December. View the selection policy.
 
You must nominate for the BSA State Championships to qualify. Only boxers nominated in the Open divisions will be able to qualify.
 
The venue is the Dom Polski Centre 232 Angas Street Adelaide.
 
When nominating your boxers to the matchmaker Phil Miller can you please tell Phil which weight category, what division i.e. U15,  Junior (U17), Youth, Elite or Master and if they are entering novice, Elite intermediate or Open.  
 
Closing date for nominations for the SA State Championships are Friday 13th September 2019.
 
The Draw will take place after all nominations are in. Boxers will only weigh in the day that they are boxing. There is no longer a general weigh-in on day 1.
 
It is very important that you nominate your boxers at the correct weight. Once the draw is complete if the boxer does not make the weight category nominated at they will be out of the State Championships as there is no changing weight categories on the day. The boxer that they were matched against will win by walk-over.
 
Elite Divisions
Novice- 0-5 bouts
Intermediate- 6-15 bouts
Open- 16 bouts plus
 
U15, Junior and Youth there is no intermediate division its Novice or Open.
 
As per the competition rules :
 
U15 – boxers born in the years  2005,2006,2007
Junior - boxers born in the years 2004, 2003
Youth - boxers born in the years  2002,2001
Elite - boxers born in the years 2000-to 1979
Masters - boxers born in the years 1978 and earlier.
 
Please remember if a boxer won any novice title last year, they cannot enter that same category this year they must go up to the next category (intermediate).  
 
Weight categories as per the competition rules
 
Elite Male Weight categories
 
48-52, 57kg, 63kg, 69kg, 75kg, 81kg, 91kg, 91+kg.
 
Youth male weight categories
 
U49, 49-52 , 52-56 ,56-60 ,60-64 ,64-69 ,69-75 ,75-81 ,81-91 ,91+
 
Youth and Elite FEMALE weight categories
 
U48, 48-51 ,51-54 ,54-57 ,57-60 ,60-64 ,64-69 ,69-75 ,75-81 ,81+
 
Please note there is only 5 Female Elite weight categories to qualify for the selection event for Tokyo. So if you are interested in qualifying you must enter in one of these categories.

51kg, 57kg, 60kg, 69kg, 75kg
 
Junior & U15 weight categories
 
22kg to 54kg are in 2kg increments
 
54-57 ,57-60 ,60-63 ,63-66 ,66-70 ,70-75 ,75-80, 80+
 
Elite Open boxers will be seeded as per the competition rules. Winners of the 2018 Elite Open BSA State Championships will be seeded No 1 and R/ups of the 2018 Elite Open BSA State Championships will be seeded no 2.  

If an elite open seeded boxer has changed weight categories since 2018, and the seeded positions are vacant in that division they have moved up to the seeded boxer will fill that seed ie 60kg 2018 Elite Open State Champion has moved to 64kg in 2019 and there was no seeded 64kg boxers or only 1 seeded boxer,  that 60kg boxer fills that seeded position in the 64kg.
